Uncamouflaged

The chameleon trapezed its way
it's tail tightly coiled
around the traffic's slipstream
across the blacktop - uncamouflaged - slow

a flushing leaf living green
unlike our wine red car
not diesel smoke stained
like the scarred lorries

nor a blur of colour
like the buses,
into the roadside foliage, alive
the chameleon trapezed its way.

  1. Trapezed - singular, this desripction of a chameleon's movement.A sharply clear alive image juxtaposed against the 'scarred' and the 'blurred' vehicles. I am not sure I got the last stanza.

  2. Thanks Priti, I wasn't very happy with the last stanza either - rewrote it - I like it now, do let me know what you feel.
